Updating UTM on nonjailbroken iOS

Update UTM on your nonjailbroken iOS device - Updated on 7/25/2022

Introduction

This process will vary depending on how you installed UTM. Please choose how you installed UTM:

Updating UTM - No Tether

  1. Make sure your computer is on and AltServer is running on it.

  2. On your iOS device, head over to the GitHub Releases, select the latest non-beta version and then download the UTM.ipa asset.

  3. Open AltStore on your iOS device, tap 'My Apps', then tap the + (plus) icon on the top left.

  4. Find the downloaded UTM.ipa file and select it. AltStore should now sideload the app.

  5. If you see no errors, the app should now be updated.

Note that you will need to re-sign UTM every 7 days if you use a free Apple Developer account. Users with a paid developer account only need to re-sign every 365 days.

Updating UTM - Tether

On your iOS device, head over to the GitHub Releases, select the latest non-beta version and then download the UTM.ipa asset.

When launching with Jitterbug, just select the newer UTM.ipa file. For AltStore (AltJit), you can simply install the newer version of UTM as well. For Xcode debugging, install the newer version of UTM as well.

Updating UTM SE - No Tether

  1. Make sure your computer is on and AltServer is running on it.

  2. On your iOS device, head over to the GitHub Releases, select v2.1.0 (Beta) and then download the UTM.SE.ipa asset.

  3. Open AltStore on your iOS device, tap 'My Apps', then tap the + (plus) icon on the top left.

  4. Find the downloaded UTM.SE.ipa file and select it. AltStore should now sideload the app.

  5. If you see no errors, the app should now be updated.
